JERUSALEM (AP) — The U.S. is pressing Israel to scrap a contentious east Jerusalem building project whose approval has touched off the most serious diplomatic feud with Washington in years, said Israeli officials Monday. more

Together with millions of people in Israel and around the world, the Flatow family was mourning the murder of their beloved daughter Alisa, who was killed by Palestinian terrorists just a few days earlier in Israel.  more

The Jewish Federation movement supports HIAS, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, which since its founding in 1881 has helped more than 4.5 million refugees and immigrants. In 2009 HIAS partnered with Jewish Federations, applying both its immigration and extensive resettlement experience, to successfully rescue 57 Yemenite Jews and bring them to the United States.
