Israel to swap West bank outpost for new units


JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel has approved construction of 50 new housing units in a West Bank settlement to absorb settlers who are to be evicted from a nearby unauthorized outpost, according to a court document obtained by The Associated Press on Monday. more

For us Israeli kids, tennis was foreign and strange, not a serious sport. However, one of our classmates, a boy named Momi, happened to live right across from one of these tennis courts and during his free time he used to practice tennis. Our friend Momi became the Israeli tennis champion when he was only 17. The “foreign” sport became part of Israeli culture because it was there. If you build it, they will come. more

Thanks to the support of UJC/Jewish Federations of North America, World ORT has launched a new phase of Kadima Mada, its science and technology venture in Israel, providing 12- to 15-year-olds with Lego Robotics kits to create mini-robots. The program fills a strong need for more technology study tracks geared to schoolchildren who require remedial work in traditional science and humanities. For information, click here.
